She required a "random animal", so I chose the hummingbird because of his symbology. In Shamanism, this animal represents cure(emocional and spiritual), and brings love, grace, clarity to confront obstacles and spiritual protection. The hummingbird teaches us the softness of living, how to contemplate everything that exists and leads us to find our own state of universal grace. And this is what inspired me to write the message on it. Be brave to face the world even when it looks awful, remember to contemplate the simple things and find balance. And be free, like all birds should be, and because our soul yearns to fly!

Awesome! I love how hummingbirds represent softness, contemplation and spirituality in many cases (in shamanism obviously as well, as I could learn from your comment), but real animals are almost exact opposite! 
They have to be materialistic and greedy for food, since they have to eat a lot due to their metabolism, are constantly moving, and since they are migratory, they are rather hardy! Anyway, as for the picture itself, the most captivating part is the eye, I think- the fact that it is stylized to look almost human makes me think of this shamanistic, mystical hummingbird- thank you
